home-like community for growing

Kamukoti is a nature-oriented, communal, and caring support system for the whole family. While the operating language of Kamukoti is Finnish, we also incorporate English in our daily activities through our English immersion method. If a child's mother tongue is not Finnish, we provide strong support for learning the Finnish language.

Our daycare offers space for 40 children aged 1-5 years old (We will provide a fully English language pre-school education program starting in August 2024). The children are taken care of by three early education teachers, four practical nurses, and one daycare assistant.

With adequate resources, we ensure that we always have time for high-quality early childhood education and to support families in achieving a balanced and smooth everyday life. Our home-like daycare provides a stress-free environment for children to learn essential skills through natural curiosity, creativity, and bold experimentation.

The emphasis on nature is a significant advantage for us in the urban environment of Pitäjänmäki. We spend a considerable amount of time outdoors, engage in urban farming, and promote a positive relationship with nature. To learn more about Kamu's commitment to nature, please read further.

Kamukoti Pitäjänmäki follows an early childhood education approach that considers the needs and developmental stages of each child. Our approach is based on the City of Helsinki's early childhood education plan and the action plan derived from Kamu Kindergarten's nature-focused, strength-based pedagogical perspective.

DAYCARE MANAGER Jingjing liu WELCOMES FAMILIES IN THE KAMU COMMUNITY!

I have been working as a kindergarten teacher for 15 years. One of my passions is engaging children in arts and crafts activities. I also enjoy taking them outdoors to explore and learn through play. Witnessing the creativity and knowledge that children possess never ceases to amaze me, and I am grateful for the mutual learning experiences we share.

As a manager, my mission is to collaborate with the team to nurture and uncover the unique gifts, talents, and wisdom inherent in each child. We strive to create a safe and developmentally appropriate environment that encourages children to engage in play and learning.

Our early education is based on a strength-based pedagogy, which emphasizes helping each child recognize and develop their individual character strengths, while also encouraging them to appreciate these strengths in others. Additionally, at Kamu, we prioritize environmental education for children. Our goal is to foster a stronger connection between children and nature, promote responsible behavior in the environment, and guide them toward adopting a sustainable lifestyle.
